Poor Reporting?
Example Issues
  • Are your unsure if your reports are producing correct figures?
  • Is the output difficult to read?
  • Do you wish they were in a different format?
  • Are you convinced that there is data missing but you're not sure what?
Possible Causes
Reports are designed based on the situation that your business is in at the time, however, no business stays the same for very long, so your reports should grow and adapt with your business. This is very often not the case and businesses try to manage with reports that don't reflect the way their business currently works. Some examples of causes of poor reporting are:
  • Your report is not using all the data you have available
  • Your business has grown and/or changed since the report was designed so the format and/or information displayed is no longer appropriate
  • The software that is producing your reports is an old version so has limited flexibility in displaying the information
Our Approach to a Solution
The approach we take is to sit down with your staff to understand what reporting your business needs, what data you are capturing and what reports you are currently producing. It could be that an existing report can simply be re-designed or re-formatted, but it may also be that you need a brand new report to show you what you want to know. We may also find that you need to capture some additional information to ensure that your reports are useful, but whatever we find, we will suggest a number of ways to resolve your problem.

Your reports should enable you to analyse your business and plan for the future, not just to produce a piece pf paper that is simply filed away.
